sTACI Brown- Executive director
As a lifetime resident of the Chicagoland area, it is a personal mission of Staci to lead an organization that serves the under-resourced youth in some of our most economically disadvantaged areas on the South and West sides of Chicago. Through the vehicle of competitive rowing, we will give children an opportunity that is usually reserved for a select few. Staci brings experience in social media marketing, fundraising, and extensive non-profit leadership skills to CTC. Her work in youth development fitness programs will serve as a great framework for the future planning of CTC programming. She is excited to see CTC flourish in the near and distant future and looks forward to uniting the ideals, mission, and values of CTC with the emerging youth of Chicago. In the coming years, CTC will continue to pursue its mission to help our student-athletes thrive in the community and set a course for success after they leave our program through the common bond of rowing. Joe byrd - board chair
Joe Byrd started coaching with CTC in 2008, and joined the board in 2009, currently serving as the Board Chair. Born and raised in Portlandia, Joe sculled in a single for three years in high school, and rowed sweep for four years at the University of Washington in Seattle. Joe wants as many youth as possible to experience rowing and all the benefits acquired through participation in crew. When not working with CTC, Joe manages property in Albany Park, where he lives with his family. Both his sons are CTC alumni. |
tAYÉ BROWN - MEMBER
Tayé Brown became involved with Chicago Training Center as a parent in 2017 and joined the board in 2021. As an artist, educator and entrepreneur Tayé brings experience in the areas of curriculum design, programming and organizational planning. She looks forward to working to increase the reach and impact of CTC. |
Scott dias - member
Scott Dias has been a member of the Board of CTC since 2017. Scott was born and raised in Chicago, and spent his high school & college years on the East Coast where he found the sport of rowing at Phillips Exeter Academy and then Princeton University. After many years in New York City Scott and his family returned to Chicago and Scott quickly found CTC. Scott works at Goldman Sachs, has two young children and is an active member of the Chicago community including serving on the Ambassadors' Board of the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls JEFF MARX - MEMBER
Jeff Marx has been involved with CTC since 2008, first as a volunteer and now as a Board Member (2010-current) and former Executive Board Member (2011-2018). Jeff grew up in Wisconsin and discovered crew at Boston University, where he rowed for four years. He hopes to introduce the incredible world of rowing and all it has to offer to CTC's participants, and to see them grow as individuals as well as athletes. Jeff is an attorney, focusing on pharmaceutical patent litigation at RMMS, lives in the Chicagoland area with his family. |
jamie fargo - treasurer
Jamie Fargo has served on the board of CTC since 2016 and is currently the treasurer. He started rowing at Kent School, Connecticut in 1975 and continued at Harvard where he won the national collegiate championship in 1983. Jamie continues to compete as a master’s rower sometimes joining fellow board member Joe Byrd in practice and competition. Jamie worked as a currency options trader with Credit Suisse First Boston after college after which he moved into engineering which he currently practices at S&C Electric Company in Chicago. Jamie lives in Winnetka with his family and coaches rowing part time at New Trier High School. Both of his sons are currently rowing and interested in helping CTC as time permits. |
MATT HUGHES - member
Matt Hughes has been involved with CTC since 2016. Matt grew up in Michigan and attended the University of Michigan from 2000-2004 where he started rowing and rowed for four years. After that, he moved to Princeton, NJ and trained with the US National Team winning a silver medal at the world championships, medaling at two world cups, and competing at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Matt also serves as Treasurer on the USRowing Board of Directors Executive Committee and has been a board member of US Rowing since 2018. Professionally, Matt joined One Equity Partners in 2008 and now acts as a Managing Director based in Chicago. During his tenure at OEP, he worked on numerous investments in the healthcare, technology, energy and manufacturing industries. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Merfish United, W.W. Williams, PS Logistics, and Ameco. He previously served on the boards of Anvil International, ANX eBusiness, NuArx, and Intren. |
